Runners make national finals

Bassetlaw’s junior orienteers represented Notts successfully on saturday, competing in the Yvette Baker Trophy at Bradgate Park, Leicestershire.

Taking on tough opposition, including seeded county treams from Leicestershire and Warwickshire, their performance was good enough to qualify for the national final.

This will be held in July at Belton near Grantham, when the best 15 junior teams in Britain will all compete for the Yvette Baker Trophy, named after a former British World Orienteering Champion.

Bassetlaw junior’s results were: Boys Yellow Course - Fraser Ridgway 3rd, George Carley 9th, Tom Cooley 11th, James Recaldin 12th; Boys Orange Course - Alexander Ridgway 2nd, Stefan Taylor 5th; Girls Orange Course - Eleanor Cooley 3rd; Boys Green Course - Ben Beresford 7th, Will Parkinson 8th.
