Ryan’s top weight

The top weight on the day was taken by Ryan Whilton who managed a respectable 21lb 7oz.

He was followed closely by James Fleeman and Joel Potts who weighed 17lb 14oz and 13lb 13oz respectively.

The section winners were Connor Morris with 3lb 1oz, Joe Cotterall with 1lb and Chelsea Jeffcoat with 13lb 12oz.

Staying with the youngsters, Worksop & DAA coach Doreen Butt took the Cadets out to practice different types of fishing twice recently.

The first took place at Sandhill Lake for feeder fishing.

A small competitive match took place with Elliot Marris coming out on top with 2lb 13oz, and in second were Jake Hodgkiss and Leah Grayson with 15oz.

The 29th October saw them meet at Lakeside at Ranskill for some practice at commercial style fishing.

Top weight on the day fell to Matthew Fores Donnelly who weighed in with 12lb 13oz.

Morgan Makepeace had 10lb 7oz and Joshua Harte 8lb 4oz

Doreen was grateful to Steve, Linda and Neil at Lakeside and also Fred Foster and WDAA for their support at Sandhill Lake.

Congratulations must go to Worksop specimen angler Mark Cook of Town Taxis who is fast forging a name for himself in the carp fishing community.

After recently setting himself a new personal best at Tyrham Hall fisheries near Hadfield, Mark caught two lumps which were both bigger than his previous best, on a recent two-day/night session at Cromwell Lakes near Newark.

The first fish landed weighed 33lb 4oz and just when Mark thought life could not get any better he proceeded to bank an even larger example weighing in at a fantastic 34lb 1oz tempted on mainline cell boilies topped with a fake sweet corn.

COMMERCIAL ROUND-UP

AT Lodge Farm, Saturday opens commence tomorrow (Saturday) omn the signal pond, with a 9am draw in the on site café and a £15 entry fee.

At Riverside Mick Hall has been the man to beat racking up wins in both Tuesday and Wednesday matches.

On Tuesday he recorded 57lb 10oz off peg 32 on pole and pellet and on Wednesday took 57lb 3oz from peg 6 on the same method.

Friday saw Brian Crowder pole fish pellet for a net of 31lb 7oz off peg 16 with Mark Cordell pole fishing corn for 24lb 9oz from peg 4.

At Lakeside pole fished maggot produced a winning net of 80lb 14oz for Mark Homes in a recent club match, which consisted of four carp with the rest ide and Skimmers from peg 29a.

On the carp lake Paul Clark banked four fish on his cell boilie, including a common of 24lb 10oz from peg 6, while Garry Scott landed six lumps including four 20s to 24lb 1oz from peg 1, tempted on multiple maggot.

Over on the trout lake Chris Peils of Ranskill slipped his landing net under 17 fish to 6lb taken on his cats whisker cast on a sinking line, with Dinngton rod Dave Parnell tempting 15 fish to 8lb on his cats whisker or Montana presented on a floating line.

Wednesday’s open on the Holmedale lake at Sherwood Forest saw another cold start but it didn’t seem to bother the carp.

Andy Lakey of Whitwell drew the bore hole peg 31 fishing with the pole and pellet up in the water and on the deck to land 34 carp, to 10lb, for a grand total of 115lb 6oz.

In second place Nigel Shipman, who was cursing the loss of two double figure carp late in the match that he says would have won him the match, fished the pole out with pellet and down the margin with corn to land carp up to 12lb in his net of 94lb 2oz.

Young Reece Nicholson of Worksop managed a creditable 85lb 2oz to secure third place on peg 42.
