Red Lion did a total demolition job on Welcome Anchors, recording a 12 -0 win.

Adam Lyall (2x125, 139) and Colin Pringle (121, 140, and a 19 darter) were the highlights.

The in-house derby at the Ex Service between Cobras and 501s saw the 501s race into a 4-0 lead, thanks to Gary Garton (121, 128, 135, and 17 darter), Carl Parnham (123, 2x125, 2x140 and a 17 darter) and Chris Fletcher (123, 2x125, 140) but let things slip and only came away with a 6-6 draw.

One game to go, and Cobras are down, and any one from Ex Service Sports, 501s, Red Lion or Welcome Anchors will join them.

In the Sid Dennis and Sons Ltd Division Two, second-placed WMC Aces took on leaders Finnegans.

It was a game that would shape the division.

A win for the Aces would see them swap places with Finnegans, but it was Finnegans who took the advantage to lead 4-2 after the singles, only to see Gareth Jowett and Spencer Davis (121, 123, 140) level things up.

It was to be the leaders’ night as they took the next two doubles to run out 8-4 winners.

This saw them open up a three-point lead at the top.

Seaview Raiders moved level on points with the Aces after their 9-3 win over Cricket Club and entertained lowly Liberal Us.

The home side raced into a 5-1 lead after the singles and, although the Liberal won two of the three singles, it was the home side that triumphed 7-5 on this occasion.

Winless Welcome Hillbillies took on the Vine and, despite J. Upson taking the first singles for the home side, it was the Vine who took control, running out comfortable 8-4 winners.

So we have Finnegans in top spot on 22 points.

Then on 19 it’s Seaview Raiders and WMC Aces, with Cricket Club next on 18, and Ex Service C sitting fifth on 17 points.
