Second loss of the season

Scunthorpe V 36

Dinnington III 3

THE thirds suffered only their second defeat of the season as they were out-muscled by a strong Scunthorpe side.

This season, the base for Dinnnigton’s victories has come in the forwards were they have often held the upper hand.

In this game though they struggled to gain any possession and were often on the back foot.

It did not help that they missed too many tackles which allowed Scunthorpe to use their quick backs to good effect.

After, what was for them, a very lacklustre first 40 minutes Dinnington were fortunate to only be 12-3 behind at half-time, conceding only two tries to a Liam Parry penalty.

Dinnington played better in the second half but, perversely, conceded more points than the first.

They lifted their effort especially at the loose but too often gave away their possession with wayward kicking.

Scunthorpe controlled much of the play and their backs enjoyed plenty of space to run into claiming four more tries.
