In round two they thrashed Scunthorpe B 9-0, then beat Scunthorpe A 7-2 in the next round, setting up a title clash with Grimsby A.

But despite leading 4-3 thanks to Kieran Crawford, Gamble and Harry Tomlinson, the last two games slipped away and Grimsby took the title with a 5-4 win.

There was also disappointment for the Blitz C team, who began with a 6-3 win over Rasen B, James Longstaff winning twice, Josh Croft three times and Zack Surtees once.

Round two saw them lose 6-3 to Rasen A, and although they picked up two more wins, they finished third – just missing second place on game difference. Coach Paul Johnson told the Standard: “A massive thank you must go out to the parents that helped with the transport for the event and also to those parents who helped look after the teams on the four days of play.”
