Seniors lose

The senior section's unbeaten run of matches has been brought to an end by Belton Park, the Sleaford Golf Club side losing 6&2.

Sleaford’s winners were Roy Preston and John Webster (9&7) with Clive Boyfield and Kevin Cordukes and Phil White and Hugh Court halving.

However, they returned to their winning way with a 6.5-2.5 win against Newark.

Peter Budd and John Blythe won 1up, Tony Masters and Howard Sanders won 4&3, Peter Gresham and Ralph Mundy won 2up, Al Pearson and Steve Moore won 2up and Chris Green and Frank Conidi won 1up.

Clive Boyfield and Derrick O’Leary, Tony Gordon and Phil White and Brian Cuthbert and John Kyte all halved.

The Mixed Competition resulted in a fine win for Bob Ewen and Madaline Fenemore with 45 points.

Taking second place were Rex and Sue Palmer, also with 45 points, but losing on a countback.

The men’s section have had a busy weekend and on Saturday the Men’s April Stableford was won by Daniel Gee with a fantastic 44 points.

In Division One, Liam Ingram took first place with 40 points.

Taking the minor places were Oliver Harrod, playing off scratch, with 39, while Mike Howitt, Steve Rust and Dave Stanley all scored 37.

In Division Two the second and third places were taken by Tony Cook and Elliot Moore.

Sunday saw the qualifyers for the Money and Vintner Cups.

The Money Cup for the low handicap golfers was won by Andy Heslem with 79-12-67.

In second and third place were Neil Burton 81-13-68 and Mark Hipworth 71-2-69.

Jimmy Smith, with a nett 73, was the last to qualify.

In the Vintner Cup , Daniel Gee continued his good weekend work by taking first place with an excellent 80-17-63, closely followed by Paul Wilkinson and Phil Taylor.

Clive Crawford was the last to qualify with a nett 76 score.
