Sidecar team return to track

A Gainsborough based racing team will return to the track after a five year absence, thanks to a new sponsorship deal.

Nev Jones Racing Sidecar Team have secured support from Lincoln Refrigeration to contest the 2014 road racing season.

Their focus will be the Isle of Man TT races, where their previous best finish was a 12th place.

They’re hoping a switch to the Suzuki GSXR600 Power Plant will see them at speeds of 109 to 110mph, and breaking into the top 10.

Joining Nev Jones as passenger for that, and other pure road events, will be Knaresborough’s Dean Kilkenny, a newcomer to the famous TT circuit.

A debut appearance at the Southern 100 meeting at the Isle of Man’s Billown road circuit is also on the calendar for the duo.

Taking Kilkenny’s place in the chair for the ACU/FSRA F2 National Sidecar Championship will be Louth teenager, Joe Gaunt.

A team statement said: “We’re looking forward to Joe’s youthful exuberance rubbing off on veteran driver Nev Jones, and the team will be looking to improve on previous results which have included several podium finishes and three consecutive seventh places in the National Championship standings from 2004 to 2006.”
