Silver for Worksop

WORKSOP had a brilliant result on Saturday in the NJAA Under 18 Championships, finishing joint first on points – although they lost out on weight and had to settle for silver.

The results were: 1st Wakefield 21 points better weight, 2nd Worksop 21 points, 3rd Barnsley red 25 points.

Eight teams of eight anglers fished the match which was held at Aston Park .

A delighted Neil Nicolson said: “We had a fantastic overall team performance on the day with two section winners , three seconds in sections, a third, fourth and a sixth – a very solid performance.”

The team included section winners Danny Slack and Daniel Richardson, Macualey Duke, Shane Seely, Reece Kiernon, Chelsey Jeffcoate, Ryan Whilton, and Cameron Cross.

Neil added: “Thanks to the team for all their hard work on the day, and the rest of the junior squad for all their work in practice, which helped me come up with the right team selection and plan.”

He also expressed gratitude to Alex Mitchel and his team at Aston for all their help and support, and Geoff Mawby at Gateford Angling for his help with supplying bait for the match.

An amendment to last week’s column, can anyone fishing the senior citizens match at Hallcroft please note that the date is actually tomorrow (Saturday) 23rd and not as previously stated.

CLUB RESULTS

STANLEY Street Sports and Social fished last Sunday 17th June at Lindhome Lakes on the willow pond: Bill Richardson peg 7 60lb 12oz all carp up in the water with pellet and pole; Steve Pogson peg 35 46lb 08oz as above; Steve (Polly ) Hill peg 2 44lb 12oz fished the margins/carp/barbel/pellet/corn.

The next match is on Sunday 1st July at Clearwater Lakes with the draw at 8.30am.

Batchelors AC visited Messingham Sands last Sunday where all the main frame took exclusively carp nets: Chris Eves peg 13 96lb 12oz bomb and pellet; Andy Jardine peg 48 69lb 14oz bomb and pellet; Alan Quick peg 36 54lb 15oz pole and caster.

The Tuesday Club visted Lakeside Fishery for their latest fixture: Mick Pogson 52lb 11oz peg 25 pole and meat; Mel Kirton 47lb 15oz peg 23 maggot; Keith Morris 42lb 12oz peg 27 pole and meat.

There are two matches to report on from the Greyhound AC – the first taking place at Oak Tree Fishery at Haxey where all the main frame employed bomb fished pellet: Russ Brown peg 18 48lb 6oz; Phil Moore peg 13 41lb; Dave Robinson peg 12 32lb 3oz.

The second event was fished at Royston Water near North Scarle: Russ Brown peg 8 33lb 12oz pole fished pellet; Dave Robinson peg 2 25lb pole fished maggot and pellet; Stevie basset peg 20 24lb 4oz bomb and pellet.

The Harworth Comrades AC fished at Lakeside Fishery last Tuesday: Bob McGowan 47lb 8oz peg 11 pole and caster; Malc Thompson 43lb 3oz peg 10; Barry Holmes 42lb peg 4.

STARTING at Lakeside Fishery, Wednesday’s open was won by Phil Morgan who had two carp in his net of 111lb 6oz with the rest silvers tempted on pole fished meat from peg 8.

Keith Haywood won a club match with an impressive net of skimmers weighing 91lb from peg 27 taken on pole and pellet.

Mark Wragg claimed victory in another club match on peg 13 with 74lb 13oz of silvers using pole fished worm over caster.

On the carp lake Chris Brammer landed three specimens to 21lb 1oz from peg 5 on cell boilies, while over on the trout lake Pete Mitchell slipped his landing net under 11 fish to 8lb on his white fritz cast on a sinking line.

At Riverside, in Tuesday’s contest: John Bleakley 34lb 8oz peg 43 bomb fished meat; Mick Hall 32lb 13oz peg 20 pole and pellet.

Wednesdays match: John Bleakley 37lb 15oz peg 34 feeder fished meat; Terry Holmes 28lb peg 43 pole fished pellet.

Thursday’s competition: Lee Hassett 32lb 9oz peg 43; John Bleakley 29lb 11oz peg 34 bomb and meat.

Saturday’s event: Garry Morris 52lb 7oz peg 33 feeder and corn; Keith Noble 40lb 7oz peg 40 pole and meat.

Down the road at Lodge Farm, Tuesday’s open was held on the lily pond: Andy Lakey 135lb 9oz peg 71 pole and pellet; Garry Brookes 119lb 9oz pole and pellet peg 56.

Wednesday’s over 50s was held on the top pond: Jez Lithsey 49lb 13oz peg 33 pellet waggler; Mel Kirton 38lb 15oz peg 26 pellet waggler.

Thursday’s contest was fished on the field pond: Keith Walters 162lb 1oz peg 30 pole and pellet; Andy Hill 159lb 8oz peg 36 pole fished pellet.
