Last October, Jack, then aged 12, applied to join the training session after seeing an advertisement on the internet. He thought no more about it until he had a phone call from Spain to say he had been selected as one of two UK applicants to train with Marquez for five days – all expenses paid.

The event was open to just 20 applicants aged 10/13 years worldwide and organised by the Allianz Laps for Life motor camp which is a charitable event to help awareness for Alzheimer’s. Jack was excited to be coached by one of his favourite riders who this year is currently leading the MotoGP World Championship.

Jack was unfortunate to crash a KTM during training last year and spent a week in hospital before being permitted to travel home. He said: “Marc Marquez was fantastic and concerned for my welfare, while I recovered from my collapsed lung he made sure my parents were well looked after in a nice hotel and the charity covered the costs of my treatment and the hotel stay.

“Because I missed some of the training, Marc has invited me over again this November for another five days and I can’t wait to get back on the bike. He is such a lovely person, really caring and obviously a fantastic rider; it is an honour to have him give me guidance on my racing career.”

Jack, now 13 and a student at St George’s Academy, races in the Maxxis UK National Flat Track Championship and this year finished second in the Youth Intermediate Championship which is open to riders between the ages of 11-15.

He also races in the Mablethorpe Sand Racing Championship in the winter, speedway and the Pit Bike Championship at Scunthorpe.

Jack receives support from Aveland Electricals in Sleaford but could do with more sponsorship to help with the expense of running the bike next year. If you can help him, visit his Facebook page – Jack Bell 93
