The 17-year-old, from Wyberton, found himself at a career crossroads after receiving a series of options concerning his future.

But after being offered the chance to link up with the team behind Lee Westwood, Billy decided it was an opportunity that couldn’t be missed.

Billy will now be represented by Andrew ‘Chubby’ Chandler of ISM (International Sports Management) and coached by Mike Walker, after impressing with his potential.

Last year the teenager scooped the Lincolnshire Junior, Amateur and Open titles and had considered remaining in the amateur ranks with his sights set on fulfilling an ambition of taking part in the Walker Cup.

There was also an offer of combining his golf with studies in the USA.

However, after deliberation and discussions with Chandler, Billy felt the time was right to enter the pro ranks.

This year he will compete on the MENA Tour (Middle East and North African) as well as the EuroPro Tour, the continent’s third tier.

Billy, who is attached to Woodhall Spa Golf Club, is also looking to take part in a few Challenge Tour competitions, although his main goal remains to book his place on the European Tour in the future.

The youngster is also on the lookout for sponsorship to help him fulfil his ambitions.
