Surprise setbacks for leaders in West Lindsey's indoor leagues

The leaders won only one of the three rinks of triples as Scotter raced to a 6-2 victory to close the gap at the top to just one point.

There was another surprise in the Tuesday Australian Pairs League with Phillip Pearson’s tabletoppers losing 18-13 to Susan Mawer’s team. It enabled their main rivals, Ian Hatton’s team, to make ground after a convincing 20-6 success against Geoff Gray’s team, although they still need five points from their three games in hand to take over pole position. Previously, Mawer’s team had been less impressive when losing 20-15 to Roy Enever’s team. But Brenda Allen’s side continued their excellent form with a 21-7 victory over John Musgrave’s bottom-of-the-table team and climbed into third place.

In the Monday Pairs League, leaders Ray Robinson and Tom Whiteley were not in action, allowing Keith Woffinden and Gordon Tucker to close the gap with a 17-9 win over John Alsop’s team. Ian Hatton and Michael Taylor moved up to third after a devastating 56-4 rout of Geoff Houltby and Eric Dobbie, while John Grooby’s team are now stranded at the bottom after losing 17-10 to fellow strugglers, John Alsop’s team.

The top two won again in the Friday Triples League, although both were made to work hard. Ray Robinson’s team beat Merv Johnson’s team 16-11, while Eric Dobbie’s team defeated Geoff Gray’s team 19-6
