It will be based at Northgate Sports Hall and the class will be suitable for all females over 10 years of age.

Club instructor Jill Pearce, sixth degree black-belt, will run the course with an all-female coaching team and the sessions will be a unique blend of martial arts, effective self-defence techniques and a good workout routine.

Jill said: “This course has been developed by women, for women, after years of research into what girls want to achieve and enjoy when joining a martial arts class. We are being supported by Lincolnshire County Sports Partnership and the Sport England Sportivate programme because of their efforts to try and encourage more girls, of all ages, to take up and enjoy sports.

“I’ve been contacted by alot of, shall we say, more mature ladies, who think it is something only young people can get involved in, and I say come and give it a go and I think you’ll be surprised.

“I think everyone has the right to defend themselves and improve their confidence and fitness levels.”

Anyone interested can go along to a free taster session next Tuesday (April 26) at 7.30pm and the classes will continue throughout May and June, every Tuesday at the same time.
