There were three matches for Boston teams at the weekend, including the complete range of results with a win, a draw and a defeat.

The Ladies’ Seniors Thirds had a 4-4 result against Horncastle Seconds in a Division Three match played away at Horncastle.

The team of Hilary Calvert, Laura Ray, Helen Cook and Helen Duckett saw the action even throughout, with both Boston’s pairs beating the second opposition pair but missing out to Horncastle’s first pairing.

There was an opportunity against the first pair when one of the sets went to a tie-break, but Boston narrowly missed out on this chance for a win.

The Boston Senior Men’s Firsts, competing in Division One, were at home to Grantham on Saturday.

The opposition proved too strong for Boston’s Ray Frankish, James Newton, Chris Cook and John Gibson and the result was a loss for Boston.

The Boston Senior Men’s Thirds have been slow starters this season, with several postponements because of bad weather.

However, the team came out of the blocks at full pace in the team’s away match against Rustons on Sunday afternoon.

It was a 6-2 win for the team of Sev Smura, Henry Cheer, Chris Cook and Gary Fitzjohn and, although there is a sprint ahead of them before the season ends, the finishing line is within sight.

In the Lincolnshire Slazenger Mini Red Leagues the Boston mini red B team finished in overall seventh place after the 5-8 play offs were completed on Saturday afternoon.

The team of Alina Rubina, Matilda Clarke, Julia Gemzala and Ben Rudkin played Horncastle first off and then Grimsby’s St James.

A loss against Horncastle was followed by a narrow win over St James.

On Sunday morning the Boston and District Winter League re-starts after the Christmas break.

Boston B team, having only dropped only one point so far this season, will play Boston D team.

The youngsters of Boston A team will meet Boston C team.

Boston F will play away to Woodhall Spa.
