Heat one saw only three riders on the line and, after Mickie had some great starts to lead the race after the track was watered at the beginning of the meeting, Sam McGurk laid it down on the outside line then repeated it again in the re-run.

At the third attempt all went well with Mickie taking the win with Sam second.

And in heat five Mickie took second, Nathan winning again.

The final lap saw Mickie try to go round Sam and, as they both tipped into turn one, Mickie’s handlebar hit Sam’s back wheel and picked the bike up heading him to the fence flatout.

Mickie somehow managed to get on the gas and turn the bike, allowing Sam to get away and let Jordan through as well.

Sam finished first with Jordan second, Mickie third and Nathan fourth.
