Three titles for Dukeries

SIX gymnasts from Dukeries Academy entered the club’s first ever Notts Novice Championships and came home with three out of seven titles.

Jessica Swift won the eight-nine years novice plus advanced group title, finishing first on our fall apparatus to take gold.

Jasmine Lin won the eight-nine years novice title and had the second highest score on the beam.

In the same age group Isobel Lin won bronze overall, with first place on the beam, while Charlie Marshall came third on beam and eighth overall.

Maisie Wilkinson, in her first four piece competition, just missed ranking in the top 10 from 26 girls.

Abbie Brooks performed in the youngest age group of the day in her first competition and won gold with the highest scores on bars and beam.

A delighted Naomi Johnson, coach at the academy, told the Guardian: “The girls look very professional in their routines and winning three gold and one bronze medal was a great achievement for the gymnasts.”
