Tom makes tennis final

Boston Tennis Club's Halloween Grade Four tournament took place last week, where club members competed in the 18 and under and in the 14 and under boys' events, and in the mini tennis events.

Tom Mecklenburgh reached the final of the 14 and under boys and was the runner-up. Joe Brooks and Robbie Townsend reached the semi-final stages and Siddhart Anand, James Burrell and Rohan Taylor-Kharade also competed at this age group, with Lucas East and Robert Hayes in the 18 and under category.

In the green 10 and under event, Finley McKay lost to the eventual winner in a third set tie-break, finishing second as Sonny Mitchell finished third.

Noah Freeman won the orange nine and under category whilst Will Pettitt, Ben Rudkin and Jessica Dolata put in some good performances.

Ben Rudkin won the red eight and under event whilst Matilda Clarke and Billy Smith finished third and fourth respectively.

Matches have been played in the Lincolnshire Autumn League. In the under 12 boys’ section the Boston A team – William Cheer, Reece Anderson-Doherty, James Burrell and Daniels Goreliks - beat Boston B’s Thomas Piggins, Robbie Townsend, Siddhart Anand and Joe Brookes 5-1.

Boston A girls’ under 12s – Alice Gamman and Hannah Willis - beat Boston B’s Isabel Wookey and Lois Boothby 3-0 to win the division, Boston B taking runners-up position.

In the Lincolnshire Seniors Winter League, Boston senior men beat Grantham B comfortably 8-0 in a division one match. The team was Ray Frankish, Simon Bush, James Newton and Gary Fitzjohn.

Boston senior ladies Thirds, in Division Two, beat Collingham 6-2. The team was Hilary Calvert, Ron Thorogood, Helen Cook and Jenny McGarel.

In the Boston and District Winter League, Boston A’s William Cheer, Joe Parla, Reece Anderson-Doherty and Robert Hayes beat Billinghay 5-3 and Boston B’s Terry Mastin, Richard Walker, Jeremy George-Jones and Mary Smura beat Boston E’s Rob Griffiths, Carl Stanney, Richard Tupper and David Wookey.
