Top prizes for club

Boston Tennis Club dominated the Lincolnshire Tennis Awards and the Aegon British Tennis Awards held on Saturday night at the Showroom in Lincoln.

The club won the Aegon British Tennis Award for Lincolnshire’s Club of the Year and moves forward for the Regional Awards, as does Frank Cammack, Boston Tennis Club secretary, who won the award for Outstanding Achievement.

Steve Wood won the Aegon British Tennis Award for Coach of the Year in Lincolnshire and David Cheer won the Aegon British Tennis Award for Lincolnshire’s Young Volunteer of the Year.

Other awards that came Boston’s way saw Victoria Beardsley pick up the Lincolnshire Tennis Award for Junior Girl Player of the Year and Val Brown receive a Lifetime Award.

In addition, the club also picked up numerous trophies. These included Lincolnshire Slazenger Doubles League success in 2015 for Boston Ladies, Boston Ladies’ 3 and Boston Men’s 2.

The Aegon Team Tennis winners were Boston Red and Orange A teams, the under 12 boys’ B team, 16 and under girls, men’s seconds and ladies’ teams.

In the Winter Seniors, Boston Men’s 3 were winners and in the Lincolnshire Winter Mini Leagues Boston’s Red and Green teams were the top teams.

The awards and trophy successes are testament to the wonderful facilities at Boston Tennis Club, which includes a smart clubhouse, 17 outdoor courts, two mini tennis courts and four indoor courts on a variety of surfaces. The club welcomes players of all ages and abilities and, with volunteers running the club, the membership fees are kept to a minimum, making tennis as available as possible.
