Top two continue to set the pace in the bowls league

The top two both picked up points in the Boston Indoor Bowls League's Orchard Heath Group Division One.

Eastenders and Holland Fen both had comfortable wins.

The Enders faced Jolly Farmers and produced winning scorelines of 18-11 and 26-9, skips Andy Reeson and Richard Vinter very much in control.

Holland Fen saw off the challenge of Norprint with skips Mick Tomlin and Jim Gott successful 20-9 and 21-14.

Defending champions Carlton Road were matched against A40.

Janet Vinter, Norma Barnes and Jean Cammack always had the upper hand, winning 18-19 against the Road’s Les Feary.

The Road’s Geoff Parker won the aggregate points when he produced a success of 17-9.

The Punchbowlers were matched against Royal Mail in a close contest, with the Mail taking the aggregate by two shots.

The Mail’s Neil Harrison, Alan Hill and Roy Vinter won 22-13 which saw them home.

IBC were in good form this week.

Matched against Strollers Michael King and Ted Bourne had wins of 23-13 and a close 16-15.

In the T&B Containers Division Two, Boston Park - who have been maintaining a strong position in the league - surprisingly lost all points to Patriarchs.

Colin Baxter and Ray Woods for the Patriarchs returned wins of 14-13 and 22-13.

Matched against Parthians, Breakaways’ Gordon Gallichan won the aggregate points with a success of 23-10.

Parthians’ Phil Markham just fell short of the required shots needed with a reply of 10-18.

Feathers proved to strong for the Burtons when they won all six points.

Poachers and Red 5 saw the rink points shared.

For Red 5 Bob Lody won 14-17, but this was covered with plenty to spare by Poachers’ Mick Dodes with a win of 27-4.

Autos versus Amateurs saw Jeff Homewood successful 21-5 for the Autos.

Norman Wright finished very strongly for Autos but fell two shots short of winning the rest of the points for the team as Olive Fenner, George Phillips and Mick Greet secured a win of 22-23 and two points for Amateurs.
