Dinnington’s new league season got off to the now traditional losing start, as they failed to hold onto a half-time lead and missed out on a bonus point.

Hide AdThe Lodge Lane men have only won once in the last nine season openers, and got off to a poor start as they sent the kick-off over the dead ball line and it set up the home side for a spell of pressure which resulted in a 3-0 lead.
A good Dinnington run was stopped close to the line but it brought a penalty and Jonny West levelled the scores.
The visitors kept the pressure on and when Brods were penalised for a dangerous tackle, West kicked them into the lead.

Hide AdA break by Ollie Rodgers, backed up by Tyle Stimpson, saw the latter take the ball to score under the posts. West converted.
This came with fifteen minutes of the half left and leading 13-3 Dinnington went looking to extend their advantage further.
Close to half time, Brods were given a chance to close the gap but were off target with a kick at goal.

Hide AdDinnington felt they were in a good position going into the second half but knew they had to stop giving penalties away.
Five minutes into the half Dinnington were penalised for not releasing in the tackle and Brods kicked the points.
Five minutes later Brods were on level terms after Dinnington knocked on, giving the home side good field position from which to launch an attack and score a converted try under the posts

Hide AdDinnington were rushing their moves and this was borne out when they won a penalty but took it too quickly and allowed Brods to steal the ball.
A penalty was the inevitability and Brods went into the lead with 20 minutes to go.
West left the field with adead leg and Brods played on this.

Hide AdThey missed a kick at goal but followed this up with a try in the corner after some sustained pressure.
In the final minutes Dinnington upped their effort but it came too late for them to get anything out of the game.
Dinnington came out of the game disappointed and with an injury list that will have a big impact when they take on Pontefract at home on Saturday
