The Lodge Lane men have only won once in the last nine season openers, and got off to a poor start as they sent the kick-off over the dead ball line and it set up the home side for a spell of pressure which resulted in a 3-0 lead.

A good Dinnington run was stopped close to the line but it brought a penalty and Jonny West levelled the scores.

The visitors kept the pressure on and when Brods were penalised for a dangerous tackle, West kicked them into the lead.

A break by Ollie Rodgers, backed up by Tyle Stimpson, saw the latter take the ball to score under the posts. West converted.

This came with fifteen minutes of the half left and leading 13-3 Dinnington went looking to extend their advantage further.

Close to half time, Brods were given a chance to close the gap but were off target with a kick at goal.

In the final minutes Dinnington upped their effort but it came too late for them to get anything out of the game.

Dinnington came out of the game disappointed and with an injury list that will have a big impact when they take on Pontefract at home on Saturday
