TRIATHLON: Sleaford juniors turn out at Derby

The squad, aged eight to 12, competed across four age ranges (TriStart to TriStar 3) and performed brilliantly in all three disciplines, on a quite technical course, with some fantastic times.
The junior squad is going from strength to strength this season and Mark Holman, the juniors coach, is really proud of their achievements: “They are a great team who support each other and have again shown what they are made of.”

Not to be left out, several of the club’s seniors were competing at the weekend, the main racing taking place at Holkham in Norfolk with the 10K road race on Saturday and Sunday’s Outlaw Holkham Half – a middle distance triathlon (half ironman) consisting of a 1.2km swim, a technical 56-mile bike section and a 13.1-miles run.

Michael Higgins (pictured) was one of the Sleaford triathletes competing on Sunday as part of a year-long fundraising campaign for the Ethan Maull ‘Up Yours To Cancer’ Foundation. Michael is taking on a series of challenges to raise money in memory of Ethan, with the aim of raising money to fund a second respite home – ‘Ethan’s House’ – near to Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham.
As part of a ‘Marathon a Month’ Challenge, Gav Meadows completed the gruelling Potteries Marathon in Stoke-on-Trent.
