Triple success for Dukeries

DUKERIES Academy have tasted success at three recent competitions.

On 23rd September Elite members Anushka Bovill and Charlotte Odams competed in an East Midlands Level 3 competition in Leicester, against top gymnasts in the region.

Odams won silver on vault and Bovill took bronze on floor and bars.

Hattie Jackson and Abbie Brooks took on Level 5 competitors and finished in the top 10 of all the Elite eight-year-olds.

A week later a team of 12 trampolinists travelled to the annual Abbey Flyers Open in Sheffield.

The Under 9 boys team of Thomas and Spencer Drysdale and Henry Marshall won gold, while Marshall won an individual bronze.

Connor Blades took Under 13 boys bronze, Under 15 girls Giorgia Dent, Charlotte Summerly, Jordanne Lowther and Libby Howard won silver, while Dent won an individual silver before taking the Under 15 synchronised title along with Summerly.

On 7th October nine of the club’s members competed in the Notts Novice Gymnastics event, where they took three bronze, two silver and one gold medal.

Devon Kaye took brone, along with Maisy Cairns and Maisie Wilkinson.

Amber Denton and Leah Adams came home with silver, while Charlie Marshall was crowned champion.

Coach Naomi Johnson told the Guardian: “Myself and all the coaches, Madelaine Richardson, Martyn Malbon, Jason Dent, Jake Chattaway, and Harley Bowskill are so proud of all our girls.”
