Trophy best for Samson

PROMISING sprinter Kaisha Buchanan took the field by storm to win the U13s Girls Street Athletics 60-metre title in Manchester over the weekend.

The Mansfield Harrier (pictured) took top spot with a time of 8.72 secs, pipping local girl Kelly Chadwick to the line by 0.01 of a second.

She qualified for the national finals after sprinting to regional success in Worksop earlier this year.

Meanwhile, another Worksop qualifier, Deon Davis came third in his U15s Boys final in a time of 8.06 secs. Fawaz Okunola came first with a time of 7.77 secs.

The event is the brainchild of former sprinters Linford Christie and Darren Campbell who want to encourage youngsters to believe in their own talents.

Races were split into four age group categories - U20s, U17s, U15s and U13s - for boys and girls.
