Under 11 rugby boys win double header

DINNINGTON Under 11s travelled to local rivals Mosborough for fixtures against the hosts and a developing team from Wortley.

In the first game Dinnington beat Mosborough 28-7, a week after drawing with them in the cup.

Some good defending from both sides kept the score level for most of first half, but Cole Hewitt’s determination and strength allowed him to drive over for the only score before the break.

In the second half the first attack Dinnington had looked promising but then chose to kick the ball, this looked to be a chance wasted but Alex Rimmington chased up and got to ball before Mosborough for a score.

Dinnington’s solid scrums and good rucking set-up the ball for the backs to attack, and jinking runs from Harry Brown brought a further two tries, before Mosborough scored a consolation.

Game two saw Dinnington coast to a 30-0 victory over Wortley, who borrowed players from their opponents and Mosborough.

Dinnington fielded a changed team, and were hungry from the start to drive Wortley back.

Good work by the forwards secured ball for the backs to run and pass, and the tries came.

Five tries were scored by the backs and one from the forwards.

Wortley never gave up, but their efforts weren’t quite enough to score.

Scorers for Dinnington were Rimmington (2), Reece Wilks (2s), Harry Court and James Crane.

Man of the Match went to Hewitt.
