The Tigers have had to start again this summer following a series of financial concerns off the field and are preparing for life in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

But their youthful squad certainly looked keen in training and that enthusiasm transferred itself to the pitch when they beat Brigg Town 2-0 in their opening pre-season game this week.

“The starting XI were all aged under-24 against Brigg and four of five them were only 18 years-old, so to go and perform as we did and beat a team like Brigg as comfortably as we did, is very encouraging,” said Tigers manager Mark Shaw.
