Ward wins age section in Leeds, and adds a Pud

Clowne Road Runners were busy in Yorkshire producing some outstanding performances.

The Leeds Abbey Dash saw seven Road Runners take part.

This year the field’s depth was supported by the English 10k Championships and the Run Britain 10k final, as well as the Inter Area Match, hosting Scotland for the first time, and the Combined Services 10k Championships.

Andy Ward was Clowne’s first runner home finishing 14th and winning his age category.

He was followed Gareth Lowe who finished 54th, second in his category with a personal best.

The result moved Ward to first and Gareth Lowe to fourth in the UK Over 40s rankings for 10km.

Clowne Road Runners then took on the famous Percy Pud 10km which attracts over 2,000 runners.

Ward won the race again in a time of 30.22, taking victory for the fifth time in a row and producing a course record.

Lowe finished in third in 32.04 thanks to another fine performance, while Darren King was ninth in a time of 33.24.

Lewis Banton, returning from a long injury, finished in a time of 34.21 making it fourClowne Runners in the top 15.

Louis Lowe was Clowne’s first lady home in 41.20 finishing sixth in the Ladies Over 35 category against some of Yorkshire’s top lady runners.

The popular National Park Runs saw 5 of Clowne Road Runners take part in the Rother Valley 5km Park Run with all the runners producing PB’s.
