Warrant is crowned the RAF's rally champion

The 41-year-old - a contractor based at RAF Coningsby - took part in the event, organised by the RAF Motorsports Association (RAFMSA).

The championship, which is open to RAF personnel and contractors, comprises of five single venue stage rally events of the driver’s choice, with the final event being the Rockingham Stages.

It is during the final event, attended by all crews, that the trophies are presented to the top driver and navigator.

Ady, a CarillionAmey contractor, and his partner Clare Law, 40, an RAF officer based at RAF Halton, and also from Wrangle, notched up their points by taking part in the Horiba D’Isis stages (Hinckley), Flying Fortress stages (Grafton Underwood), Jane Cowling Memorial stages (Fulbeck), Cadwell stages (Louth) and Rockingham stages (Corby).

Despite this being their first season together, Ady had enough points to take the lead driver whilst Clare was third navigator.

Ady, a former Formula 400 motorcycle champion, said: “I did a little bit of rallying some years ago, but have never entered a championship before.

“It is a team effort though and I couldn’t have done it without Clare or the support of the RAF.”

The couple’s rally car is a modified BMW M3 Compact affectionately known as Judy.

This was Clare’s first time rallying.

She said: “I’ve never given anything like this a go before but I persuaded Ady to develop the car and enter the RAF MSA championship.

“I thoroughly enjoyed it and out on the stage it’s definitely the one time I know he listens to every word I say.”
