WATER POLO: Horncastle Otters take on Dolphins

A new local sporting derby between Horncastle and Louth ended with smiles all round and nearly 40 shattered young swimmers agreeing that two hours of water polo really can be fun.

For only the second time, Louth Dolphins played host to Horncastle Otters at the Meridian Centre last Sunday for a series of practice games and one final free-for-all.

The waters of the eight-lane Meridian pool churned as everyone fought to stay above the surface and compete for the ball over four seven-minute quarters of frenetic water polo. Both clubs hope to repeat the fixture in the coming months with the visitors keen to develop the sport at Horncastle Leisure Centre.

For the record, the final score was Blues 6, Whites 4.
