Westwood outside top 10 in Thailand

AT the Thailand Golf Championship last week, Lee Westwood finished just outside the top 10.

He shot a total score of 279, nine under par, to complete his 2012 season.

In the opening round at the Amata Spring Country Club in Bangkok he had one eagle, three birdies and three bogeys in a two under par 70, and this put him into 21st place.

On day two a 69, including four birdies and one bogey moved him up into a share of ninth going into the weekend.

Five birdies in the third round helped him to another round of 70 lifting him up to seventh place, and the final round on Sunday included five birdies and three bogeys giving him another 70 leaving him in a share of 11th place.

SERLBY Park Golf Club Sunday Medal was won by Stuart Sugden 77-16=61.

Division One went to Phil Dernie 71-3=68 from Peter Gee 80-12=68.

The Division Two winner was John Hovell 82-17=65 from Jim McAndrews 83-16=67.

On Saturday the Winter League Better Ball Stableford No7 was won by Brendan and Neil Parrish 41 points from Peter Egglestone and Andy Rowley 40, Peter Gee and Billy Jameson 39, John Kay and John Smith 39, Phil Dernie and Andy Pugsley 39.
