Mettam reached the landmark with a hat-trick in the Tigers’ 3-2 home win over Blyth Spartans last Saturday.

And his efforts have been part of a prolific season for the Tigers as they have bagged 119 goals so far in the league - a new scoring record for the Evo-Stik League.

“I always feel personally proud with any goal-scoring feats I accomplish but I always say I am nothing individually without my team-mates and this is as much down to them as me,” said Mettam.

“We first became aware of the league record about six or seven weeks ago and I had no doubt we would break it and we have.”

Mettam’s goal-scoring exploits have helped fire Worksop into the Premier Division play-offs where, in all likelihood they will travel to third-placed Fylde on Tuesday night.”

“I don’t really mind if we are home or away for the play-offs to be honest,” continued Mettam.

“I’m sure the gaffer might say something different, but we have played just as well away as we have at home this season and if it is to be Fylde, which it looks like it will be, then we’ll go there with confidence.”

“They gave us a bit of beating earlier in the season but we are a much different team now.”

“A lot of the players from that day have gone and we only just lost to them at their place in the league so we know we can go there with confidence and get a result.”
