World stars coming to Boston

The Lashings All Stars will bring a team to face Boston Cricket Club in a Twenty20 contest at the Mayflower on July 29.

The likes of Devon Malcolm, John Emburey, Herschelle Gibbs, Saqlain Mushtaq, Brian Lara, Corey Collymore and Chris Schofield have all turned out for the Lashings team in the past, and could well be likely to feature again this summer.

Organiser Dave Newman said: “We have been working very hard behind the scenes to get the club into a sound financial position with various fundraising events, together with securing new advertising and sponsorship, and now we are very pleased to say that we have decided to host an international cricket event in July, when the famous Lashings All Stars will bring a select XI to play Boston Cricket Club First XI.”

It promises to be an exciting summer for the Boston team who will return to the Lincs ECB Premier Division after winning the South Lincs and Border League’s Premier Division last year.

Boston CC are now taking orders for corporate places at the Lashings event.

Mr Newman continued: “(It is) a great opportunity for local businesses to entertain clients and staff alike or for cricketing fans to get together to enjoy some hospitality and entertainment prior to the match.”

Corporate packages are the Silver Ticket tables of 10 people, costing £50 per person, and the Gold Ticket tables of 10 people plus one Lashings player costing £60 per person.

These include a three-course sit-down meal with a private bar in the marquee.

The day will also include junior cricket coaching from 10am and children’s entertainment around the ground, plus the chance to get autographs or your photo taken with cricketing heroes.

The club are also on the lookout for sponsors for the event, kit, match ball, the stumps and match programme.

Ground entry on the day will cost £5 (£3 concessions) and a family of four ticket costs £10.

The gates will open at 10am and the cricket will begin at 3pm.
