Crabapple Club set to bring vintage tea dance delights to village venue
Music lovers, dancers and vintage enthusiasts are invited to get ‘In the mood’ for a vintage tea dance at a village venue near Sleaford.
The Crabapple Club promises to be an afternoon of socialising, dancing and classic swing sounds from the 1920s to the 1950s in Heydour Parish Village Hall, at Aisby.
Hosted by cabaret performer and MC Lili Redman, the event features live music from Hep ‘n’ Swingin’ band, alongside DJ sets from Lili herself and DJ Dr Swing, Steve Mason on Sunday, February 8, from 12pm until 4pm.
Whether you are a seasoned Lindy Hopper, a complete beginner, or simply happy to tap a toe and soak up the atmosphere, everyone is encouraged to join in.

The name is a playful nod to one of the earliest swing dances, the Big Apple, popular in the United States in the early 1930s. But as we are in rural Lincolnshire, the Crabapple was born!
“I wanted to create a warm and friendly space for dancers of every style,” says Lili. “No sniffiness allowed, just get on the dance floor. Community is everything, and I adore bringing people together.”
Dance styles include Lindy Hop, Balboa, Charleston, and the occasional waltz or foxtrot, with plenty of space for relaxed social dancing. Smart vintage attire is appreciated and Second World War uniforms are warmly welcomed, adding to the nostalgic charm of the afternoon.
Guests are invited to bring their own refreshments, with tea and coffee available at the venue.
Miss Bella’s Blooms will bring her beautiful hair flowers and corsages for those wishing to add an extra flourish to their vintage look.
Lili Redman is an established cabaret performer, MC and celebrant with a lifelong passion for and collector of vintage culture. She fell in love with swing dancing in 2004, singing opera by day as a busker in Trafalgar Square and dancing Lindy Hop by night at London’s most vibrant swing venues. She later held cabaret residences at venues including Café de Paris, Café Royal Hotel, The Savoy Hotel, The Rosewood Hotel and Crazy Coqs.
Behind the decks as DJ Dr Swing is Steve Mason. Dancing since 2002, Steve taught Lindy Hop at Pineapple Dance Studios from 2005–2009. He also appeared as guest teacher for the London Swing Dance Society.
As a DJ since 2005, he has played at many well-known venues and events across the UK.
