Lincolnshire Young Designer of the Year 2016, which promotes, celebrates and praises local design talent, is in its second year and was founded by the NCCD and St George’s Academy’s Design and Technology teacher Rebecca Topps.

Students were expected to present a strong design product which best showed their creativity, independent thinking and most innovative, high quality concepts and designs.

There were 91 entries from students in Key Stages 2-5 from nine different schools. The shortlist was reduced by an independent judging panel to 35 successful entries to be showcased in the NCCD’s Roof Gallery for a weekend.

The coveted title of Lincolnshire Young Designer of the Year 2016 was awarded to Oliver Means, Head Boy at The Priory Academy LSST.

A further four awards were presented for: Artistic Excellence - Amy Phillips, of Kesteven and Sleaford High School; Most Inspirational Concept - Georgina Glithero, Sir Robert Pattinson School; Research and Development - Olivia Ablett, Queen Elizabeth High School; Innovation Award - Jack Bond, The Priory Academy LSST.

Over 200 people visited the two-day exhibition and over 100 people attended the awards evening.

Carre’s and St George’s Academy students also entered the competition.
