Eggs flying and frying in a sweltering Swaton Vintage Day

The eggs could have been frying as well as flying at Swaton Vintage Day and World Egg Throwing Championships on Sunday.

It was a sun-soaked show which raises thousands of pounds for local, national and international good causes.

Vintage cars, commercial vehicles and farm machinery were among the exhibits at the annual event which also saw a vehicle parade, live music, a range of food and drink and trade stands, novelty dog show and the fun-packed rounds of the egg throwing.

The World Egg Throwing Championships were action-packed too, offering a range of challenges, including Russian Egg Roulette, Distance Throwing, team relays, and the infamous Trebuchet challenge.

In its 29th year the Vintage Day was started by a couple of local farmers as a way to showcase their ‘Pride and Joy’ vintage tractors and to raise a bit of money for local causes.

It has expanded over the years to become the world renowned extravaganza it now is.
