Free concert by Sleaford Guitar Ensemble
Sleaford Guitar Ensemble will be performing an hour of varied instrumental music for listeners – for free.
The concert, on Saturday, May 2, will be held at The Source, Riverside Church, in Sleaford from 2pm to 3pm.
Music arranged for classical guitar will feature well-known waltzes, romantic refrains, foot-tapping favourites, a children’s choice, popular pop, cool classics and jazz greats and as it is free, there is no booking required, just walk in. Ian Paterson from the Ensemble said: “Whilst I've been in the ensemble for only six years, others, including our Musical Director and arranger extraordinaire Leon, have been members since it began as the Solo Classical Guitar Ensemble of South Lincolnshire.
"Two of our long serving musicians, Mick and Frances have had to retire this year so we are down to eight members but still playing three-part and four-part melodies, old and new.
"As Sleaford Live isn't happening this year, we decided to do our own thing around the same time as Sleaford Live would have taken place.”
There will be a retiring collection at the end for the Sleaford Community Larder, which comes under the wings of the New Life Church, where they meet for rehearsals.
