'Something for everyone' -- spring artisan market returns to Stourton Woods

Roll up, roll up for the return of the ever-popular spring artisan market, hosted by the Lincolnshire Makers group at Stourton Woods in Baumber.

More than 90 local creatives, artists and food producers will be exhibiting at the event, which takes place at the Roundhouse in the woods on Saturday, May 10, from 10 am to 4 pm.

The Roundhouse which overlooks the picturesque parklands at the Stourton Estate, provides shelter for red deer from bad weather during the winter. But it is transformed in spring into the venue for the market.

The Lincolnshire Makers group consists of more than 3,200 local creatives and the event has been curated to showcase a wide range of products.

Founder Jodie Mason said: “There is something for everyone at the spring artisan market. We have unique items for all budgets and tastes on offer.

"Make a day of your visit, support local producers and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Stourton Woods.”

Visitors can expect a fantastic variety of locally made products on offer -- from fudge to flowers, pastries to plants, sparkling wine to soaps and much more.

Talented local musicians will greet you at the Roundhouse as you soak up the atmosphere among the trees, shop with local makers, sip on drinks and sample street food from the Lincolnshire Makers’ caterers.

Food and drink will include locally sourced breakfast rolls, sausages and Stourton Estates venison burgers from The Ginger Pig, sweet treats from Barney’s Churros, plus hot beverages from The Very Cool Coffee Bus and Nomad Coffee.

You can cool down with a pint from Backside Bar, and even more exciting eateries are still to be announced.

Picnic benches will be dotted throughout the grounds or you can take along your own picnic blankets.

Farm safaris, which are wheelchair-accessible, will run throughout the day. These can be booked online in advance via the Stourton Estates website, or a limited number will be available to book at the Stourton Estates stand on the day.

As well as browsing the vast array of stalls, free activities will include lawn games, scouting out items on a scavenger hunt, venturing on a woodland walk to spot the gnomes or tackling marked trails (three to five kilometres) around the estate.

Admission to the event is just £3, with under-16s and on-site car parking free of charge. Well-behaved dogs are welcome too.

Jodie added: “With a wide array of Lincolnshire makers, food producers, creatives and artists together in such a scenic setting, this is an event not to be missed.”
