Summer play rangers events were ‘success’

The district council’s successful Play Rangers scheme has once again been hailed a success.

The scheme, run as a partnership between East Lindsey District Council, New Linx Housing Trust and Children’s Links, has seen 874 children taking part in weekly outdoor activities at nine locations across the district throughout the six week summer holiday.

The council’s portfolio holder for culture, leisure and tourism, Coun Adam Grist said: “It is fantastic that the Play Rangers scheme has been a success yet again.

“It is also good to see youngsters putting down their games consoles and enjoying the outdoors.

“This year we enjoyed some of the hottest days in recent years so all the better to get outside, meet new friends and try something new.”

Activities in Skegness, Horncastle, Louth, Wainfleet, Ingoldmells, Mablethorpe and Winthorpe included den building, organised games, healthy outdoor cooking and climbing trees. Specialist woodland Play Rangers sessions also took place at Horncastle’s Bain Valley Park.
