Tribute acts to Fake it at home of Doncaster Rovers

Top tribute acts are set to grace the home of Doncaster Rovers for a special festival.

Following a succesful date at Sandall Park earlier this year and just ahead of a visit to the Isle of Axholme on Saturday, Fake Festivals have announced a date at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium.

A festivals spokesman said: “The UK’s only touring tribute festival is coming to Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster for the first time this summer – and is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

“All the fun kicks off on Saturday, August 6, with three major tribute acts and five local support bands, who will be turning up the heat this summer.”

OTHER MUSIC NEWS:

Lauren Wright, Club Doncaster events co-ordinator, said: “We are delighted to welcome Fake Festivals to the Keepmoat Stadium this August.

“The day promises to be a fantastic occasion with some of the top tribute bands around and we look forward to hosting a successful day.

“At Club Doncaster we are continually looking to build our portfolio of events and this is another great example of how we are doing this.”

Lined up to appear are U2 tribute act New2, Coldplay tribute Coldplace and Bon Jovi tribute the Bon Jovi Experience, alongside five local support bands.

Alongside the music from a stage inside a giant marquee, there will a bar inside the marquee, and a variety of food and entertainment stalls in the outside arena.

Jez Lee, owner of Fake Festivals, said: “It’s hard to believe that Fake Festivals started out in a small Lincolnshire village 10 years ago, and now tours around the UK.

“I can clearly remember the day, and never imagined it would take off like it has.

“I’m really proud to be able to say we are the UK’s only touring tribute festival, and that we have kept it community-led too, and not sold out to commercial pressures that a lot of festivals experience nowadays.”

Discounted advance tickets are now on sale, priced £21 for adults, £11 for youngsters aged 10 to 17 and £53 for a family of two adults and two youngsters – under-10s entre for free when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult.

Entry on the door, if any tickets remain, is £25 for adults and £15 for young people.

The Isle of Axholme fake festival takes place in a giat marquee at Carrside Playing Fields, Epworth, on Saturday, July 9.

Gates open at 12.30pm and the fun continues until 11pm.

Performing are The Killers tribute The Fillers, Foo Fighters tribute Four Fighters and Arctic Monkeys tribute act Antarctic Monkeys, after an afternoon showcase of local acts featuring Balloon Boy, Different Oceans, Peacekeeperz, Twisted Revolution and The Setting Sons.

A festival spokesman said: “Isle Of Axholme Fake Festival is a tribute-based music event and one of the tour dates on our 2016 UK summer tour.

“We’re bringing three of our ‘fake bands’ to the Isle – professional ‘touring-grade’ tribute bands that put on a superb performance. They look, sound and move like the real rock-stars – you have to see them to believe it.

“We work hard to ensure our festivals are safe, secure and accessible, with a friendly environment that caters for all ages. Our giant marquee covers any poor weather and there’s a well-stocked licensed bar inside and a food area outside.

“So round up your group or family members and make it a fun packed music day out - come and support live music and party with us late into the evening.”

The fake festivals touring season will be finished in style with The Big Fake Festival at Thoresby Park, North Nottinghamshire.

Featuring all 20 tribute acts from the Fake Festivals roster, just 3,000 tickets are available for the event which runs from Friday to Sunday, September 2 to 4.
