Vibe music festival ran from 1999 on St George’s Academy field showcasing local talent until disbanding in 2004 due to lack of volunteers to run the event.

Now the Sleaford Town Team are seeking to bring it back under a new format called Re-Vibe.

Bev Jenkins, from the Team, said: “We have been working on it steadily for the last nine months, recruiting bands, stall holders, sound and lighting engineers and sponsors.”

It is due to take place at the Sleaford Town FC ground on Boston Road on August 28, with free entry from 12noon until 10pm, featuring nine live bands. It is being billed as a festival and family fun day.

Mrs Jenkins said the idea stems from nostalgia for the old Vibe event, saying: “When we formed the Town Team we talked about this and have been organising it since then.”

The football club has offered the ground for free and she thanked Ambient Sound and Aurora Security for their input.

One of the bands, Copper Black, includes Ryan Frost, son of Mark Frost, a member of Sleaford rockers Keep The Faith that opened the first festival, who was delighted to hear that Vibe was making a come back.

Mrs Jenkins said: “We have folk, heavy metal and indie. We are really chuffed how it is coming together.”

Other bands set to play are: Kinfolk, Sandfly, Jasper Cain, Afterlife, The House of Ghosts, Convince The People, The Saboteurs and Glass Onion.
