A night with the stars in woods

Hot Venus, icy Uranus, distant galaxies and sparkling star clusters are all on offer at the last public star party of the year before the summer break at Chambers Farm Wood, near Wragby.

The cosmic event takes place this Saturday, March 14, with powerful telescopes on hand to reveal wonders in the dark sky above the 900-acre Forestry England beauty spot.

There will also be a tour of the constellations, colourful talks perfect for beginners and tips on simple astrophotography, as well as cakes and refreshments.

Amateur astronomer Richard Darn said: “The night sky over Chambers can be breathtaking, away from the light pollution of built-up areas.

“It’s staggering what a difference it makes to the number of stars you can see.”

The event starts at 7.30pm and booking is required.
