Autumn fair and wedding event going ahead at house

The owner of Leadenham House is to host an autumn fair to make up for the numerous events he has had to cancel over the spring and summer due to the covid pandemic.

The Autumn Fair and Wedding Event is scheduled for Sunday, September 20, with free entry from 11am to 4pm featuring socially distanced music, shopping, eating and drinking in the Leadenham House Stable Yard and grounds, with parking at the village hall.

William Reeve says: “We have made sure it can go ahead and be as covid-risk-free as possible. We are increasing the measures we already had in place to reduce the risk as far as possible. Our NHS wedding giveaway winners, Victor and Jaime-Lee, will be in attendance, as will many of the suppliers contributing to their free wedding.”

He added: “It was a real shame to cancel the spring festival that was to be our biggest event yet, incorporating all the grounds and the stables that hosted last year’s Christmas market, while also wrapping all the way around the house to the church together with the wedding fair and venue launch which would extend inside the house. However, let us not say cancelled, but rather postponed, since we will hold the event as planned at the same time next year, on April 25, 2021. Similarly the folk festival on the first Sunday in August had to go, which was a much bigger decision than just mine as it is a well-established village-wide effort with a number of stakeholders, particularly Tom Lane, the principal organiser.”

As well as the autumn fair there will simultaneously be an open house and wedding fair in the garden of Leadenham House. The two events will be separate but connected, allowing visitors to attend either or both. Access to the house will be limited to by-appointment one-at-a-time guided show-rounds for engaged couples. They are taking appointments for this from now. Subject to availability appointments can be made on the day and couples will be able to entertain themselves at the artisan market until it is their turn.

Anyone wishing to book in advance should call William on 07810 825697 or email [email protected].

It is still planned to hold a second Christmas market on November 29 this year, in the same format as last year with social distancing measures as appropriate.
