Walkers have the chance this year to experience the district’s rich heritage during the North Kesteven Walking Festival’s launch weekend.

‘The Spires and Steeples Arts & Heritage Trail: A Walk Steeped in History’ will be the showcase of this year’s festival, taking you through the villages of North Kesteven from Metheringham to Lincoln Castle where walkers will get to witness the breath-taking Poppies: Wave sculpture as well as have entry into the Magna Carta Vault and Victorian Prison.

Events Manager Donna Sutton said: “I’m really excited for this walk! It will really kick start the festival and show off what North Kesteven really has to offer. There are a lot of hidden gems across the district and the Spires and Steeples Arts & Heritage Trail plays a big part in showcasing the rich arts and heritage as well as bringing communities along the route together.”

The Spires and Steeples Arts & Heritage Trail: A Walk Steeped in History will take place during the launch weekend on Saturday July 9 at 9am from Metheringham Playing Field Car Park. The walk is approximately 13 miles long and will take roughly six hours to complete.
