Pub could be crowned the best in Britain at awards

A Sleaford area pub has been named the best in the county and is in the running for an award in the inaugural National Pub and Bar Awards.

The Tally Ho Inn at Aswarby has been selected as best in Lincolnshire by Pub and Bar Magazine. It is one of 94 across the UK selected as the best in their county.

The grand final will be held on May 24 at London’s iconic BAFTA theatre when 12 regional winners and overall National Pub and Bar of the Year will be announced.

Sean and Sharon McClements took over the business last June, turning it into a fine dining pub restaurant. Sharon said they thought it was a joke when they received the call.

She said: “Our chef Craig entered us and forgot to mention it. I put it down to hard work, determination, amazing staff and fabulous food.”

Sharon added: “It is a destination pub and we are getting busy.”

The magazine’s judging panel have been studying service, product range, aesthetic design and entertainment schedules.
