Afternoon tea takes flight at The White Hart Hotel

A taste of Lincolnshire’s aviation heritage is taking centre stage at The White Hart Hotel during Afternoon Tea Week, as the historic Lincoln hotel invites guests to enjoy an RAF-themed afternoon tea.

The White Hart Hotel is the only AA 4-Star Silver Award hotel in Lincolnshire and its connection to the region’s heritage extends beyond its Afternoon Tea Week experience. The Gibson Club Bar offers history seekers a unique ambience inspired by Lincolnshire’s WWII aviation history, blending elegance with a tribute to the iconic 617 Dambusters Squadron. While the hotel’s historic Tank Room is where the world’s first military tank was conceived in 1915.

Served in the Antlers Restaurant, staff will be dressed in RAF uniforms adding to the sense of occasion. Guests can enjoy a menu featuring delicate sandwiches including Dambuster mature cheddar with red onion chutney, Seven & Wye smoked salmon with cucumber and cream cheese, and roast chicken breast with smoked bacon mayonnaise.

The savoury selection also includes a homemade Lincolnshire sausage meat Scotch egg and sausage roll, alongside freshly baked fruit scones with clotted cream and fruit jam. A selection of classic sweet treats completes the menu, each featuring a subtle RAF-inspired twist.

Head Chef, Billy Frost, said: “We wanted to create an afternoon tea that celebrates Lincolnshire and the county’s strong connection with aviation, while still keeping food at the heart of the experience. We’ve included some classic afternoon tea favourites alongside local touches, such as Lincolnshire sausage, and added a few subtle RAF-inspired details to the menu.

With the RAF uniforms and the atmosphere in Antlers Restaurant, it’s a little different from a traditional afternoon tea and we hope guests enjoy the experience as much as they enjoy the food.”

Throughout Afternoon Tea Week, the package is priced at £40 for two people, or £50 for two people including prosecco. The usual price is £29.95 per person without prosecco.
