Eye clinic recognised for caring for colleagues too
Eye health specialist Newmedica Lincolnshire has climbed a huge 17 positions in the top 50 UK’s Best Workplaces™, demonstrating it takes its care for colleagues just as seriously as its care for patients.
The 2026 list of UK businesses that made the cut was announced at the Best Workplaces Awards held at Grosvenor House in London this month. Newmedica, which has clinics in Grimsby, Brigg and Lincoln, was named 28th in the large category.

The clinics offer a variety of both NHS-funded and private ophthalmology treatments including cataract surgery, YAG laser treatment, oculoplastic surgery and treatment for glaucoma. It is owned and led by the consultant ophthalmologists undertaking patient treatment as well as the operations director, Michelle Cady.
Caring for patients is at the heart of the business, and to ensure they receive the best care, Newmedica invests significantly in nurturing its talented team.
Michelle said: ‘As eye care professionals, our priority is looking after Lincolnshire’s eyesight, and fundamental to that is creating a positive environment for our team that will allow them to thrive in their chosen field.
"We ensure we’re nurturing people at every step of their professional journey, including through our apprenticeship programmes, professional development opportunities, and encouraging strong career progression. We know that the way to do our best for our patients starts with doing the best for our employees, and it’s wonderful to see we have been recognised for this, climbing even higher up the top 50 this year."
The list is produced by Great Place To Work®, a global authority on workplace culture.
James Arrow, who joined Newmedica as managing director in early 2026, said: ‘We proudly attended the Great Place to Work® awards ceremony in London. Being named 28th felt an incredible jump of 17 places from last year’s 45th place.
"Just weeks into my role as Managing Director, I’m thrilled to see Newmedica recognised as one of the UK’s best workplaces. This accolade speaks volumes about the incredible dedication and passion of our colleagues, who make Newmedica such an outstanding place to work every day."
Great Place To Work® performed rigorous evaluations of hundreds of employee survey responses alongside Culture Audit™ submissions from leaders at each company to create the 2026 UK's Best Workplaces™ list. They then used these data insights to benchmark the effectiveness of companies' employee value propositions against the culture their employees actually experience. Only those businesses who achieve the highest scores after evaluation receive Best Workplaces™ status.
