Gold Medal winning flower grower awarded The Freedom of the City of London
Flower grower can now herd sheep across London Bridge
Multi gold medal winning Cosmos flower grower from Brant Broughton, Jonathan Sheppard, was awarded the Freedom of the City of London on Tuesday (October 20), for his charitable work and services to horticulture and sustainability.
Jonathan said: “It was a fascinating day learning all about the history surrounding the Freedom Ceremony and some of the historic figures who have also had this honour.
“When you are told people like the current King, Winston Churchill, Nelson Mandela and Florence Nightingale were also recipients it makes you feel quite special."

He said one of the rights bestowed upon becoming a Freeman is the ability to drive sheep over London Bridge.
But Jonathan commented: “Even with a name like Sheppard I may hold off on that opportunity for the moment."
