Immingham residents clean up over six tonnes of waste in Community Action Day
Residents and volunteers in Immingham sprang into action and cleared over six tonnes of waste as part of a Community Action Day organised by Lincolnshire Housing Partnership (LHP).

Centred around Hadleigh Road, the local community carried out a litter pick and a skip clean-up from 9am to 1pm. Nine skips were filled with waste, two of which were donated by building maintenance contractor and long-time LHP partner, Fortem Solutions.
A range of partner organisations joined LHP and the local community to improve the shared spaces across town and support residents with clearing unwanted and bulky items from their homes. Partners included; Phillips 66, Fortem Solutions, Andy’s Man Club and North East Lincolnshire Council.

Items in good condition were set aside to be reused, helping to reduce waste and promote sustainability, while bikes were collected and taken to Re-volution Bike Hub in Nunsthorpe, and prams donated to Together Baby Bank in Immingham.
Clothes and household items were shared with local charity shops, and scrap metal was separated for recycling.
Some residents swapped items on the day, taking items to the skips and leaving with reusable items such as garden furniture instead of sending them to landfill.
“We’ve really valued the opportunity to clear a significant amount of waste from our garden today. Many people can’t afford to pay for skips, so events like this go a long way in helping to tackle fly‑tipping. It’s lovely to feel like some pride has been restored in the area,” said one LHP customer.

Another customer said: “In the spirit of being able to repurpose and reuse, it was good to see people making use of items that others no longer wanted. It’s also been a lovely opportunity to connect with neighbours who I haven’t seen for a long time!”
Jade Bramhill, Neighbourhood Team Leader at LHP, said: “It’s been a very successful event; days like this are so important for engaging with our customers and the wider community. We’ve seen some great partnership working in action and the difference made to the neighbourhood is certainly noticeable!”
Nina Stobart, External Communications & Public Affairs Lead for Phillips 66, said: “As a major business in the area, it’s important that we belong and that we’re part of the community where we live and work, so to come out and support a day like this, helping the community of Immingham and working together with LHP, it’s great; it’s part of our ‘Good Energy’ ethos at Phillips66.”
Jayne Wilkes, Regional Social Value Manager at Fortem Solutions, said: “We were delighted to take part in the skip event in Immingham. It was great to see the impact the day had for local people in the community. We look forward to continuing our support and collaboration with LHP at future events.”
