The celebrity chef known for his appearances on ITV’s This Morning had been staying locally while filming and judging at the British Pie Awards in Melton Mowbray.

Rachel Tweedale manager of the Elite fish and chip shop and restaurant in Sleaford told The Standard: “He was just staying in the area because of judging for the awards and fancied fish and chips.

“We have met before at a product launch for gluten free products designed for the fish and chip industry and I told him about our shop in Sleaford and said if he was ever in the area he was more than welcome. It obviously stuck in his mind!”

The food seemed to go down well, as he had a meal with fellow chef Paul Vidic of The Bell at Coleby and their wives.

Rachel said: “He said it was all really good, they sampled lots of different menu options like the rock salmon that he’s tweeted, wing of skate, lemon sole, haddock and cod.”

Phil said in his Twitter comment: “Fabulous fish chips and peas #realfood #proper”. He added with a photo: “Just love Rock, this was very very good! #realfishandchips”.
