I’m currently a vertical specialist writer for National World, covering education stories across the company's portfolio.
I joined the company with NationalWorld.com in early 2023, where I initially worked as the late editor before taking over as an environment and sustainability specialist. Before moving to the UK, I worked as both a print and radio journalist in New Zealand for a number of years - also largely in the environment field.
During my time at NationalWorld I regularly wrote in-depth explainers, opinion pieces and breaking news on everything from national and local climate issues to conservation, as well as covering pets, gardens and animal welfare. Back home, I’ve been the lead writer for several major campaigns. One helped crowdfund the money to buy a 500ha block of farmland on an iconic Christchurch hillside and bring it into public ownership, where it will be allowed to naturally regenerate. As a radio reporter, I was also the ground at some of our most significant, shocking and devastating events, including the March 15 Terror Attacks - and was the first journalist in the country to report the School Strike 4 Climate movement was coming to New Zealand.
I’ve also briefly worked for a bilingual business magazine in China’s Guangdong province. I have a BA in sociology, and studied a Postgraduate Diploma in journalism, and a Master of Journalism degree specialising in true crime podcasts.
