Boost for hairdressing education from award-winning Woodhall Spa salon
An award-winning salon in Woodhall Spa is helping to make hairdressing education more accessible to professionals by bringing leading industry teachers directly to Lincolnshire.
After years of travelling across the UK to attend training courses, Julie Charles and Wendy Griffin, who co-own re:new Hair and Beauty by Expressions, decided it was time to turn the tables and bring top-level education to their doorstep -- not only for their own team but also for neighbouring salons.
The first event in the new series took place last month, welcoming award-winning cutting specialist and educator Davide Spinelli for an exclusive afternoon masterclass that was attended by salon professionals from across the region, including teams from Lincoln and Skegness.
Hosted at re:new Hair and Beauty by Expressions on Coronation Road in Woodhall Spa, the session saw Davide demonstrate three contemporary haircuts while sharing the precision cutting techniques and approach to education that have earned him recognition throughout the industry.
Founder of DS Hair Education and a respected international teacher, Davide is known for his structured, technique-led approach to cutting and has previously been shortlisted for the educator of the year honour at both the Fellowship for British Hairdressing and Creative HEAD Most Wanted Awards.
The re:new event proved such a success that every attendee signed up for the next date in the series before leaving.
Julie said: “In the past, it was always us that had to travel for training, whether that meant heading to London, Manchester or further afield.
"The cost, time and logistics can be a real challenge, especially for independent salons and their teams.
“We thought: why not bring great education to Woodhall Spa instead? This wasn’t just about our own team. It was also about creating opportunities for other salons.
"The response has been fantastic, and it’s been brilliant to see local hairdressers come together to learn, share ideas and be inspired.”
Founded more than 21 years ago, re:new Hair and Beauty by Expressions has built a reputation for exceptional client care, continuous professional development and a strong connection to the local community, recently being named best regional salon in the Midlands at The Hair Awards 2026.
The next event in the education series will take place on Monday, September 28 and will feature north-eastern hairdresser of the year Emma Simmons with a dedicated focus on curls.
