Care home set to open in Boston after £750,000 upgrade to site

A Norfolk-based care home group is set to launch an operation in Boston – its first in Lincolnshire – following a six-figure spend in the town.

Black Swan Care Group is in the final stages of a £750,000 renovation at the site in Whitehouse Lane ahead of a planned opening at the end of the month.The property – the former St John’s Nursing Home – has been ‘overhauled’, its group says.

Dubbed The Haven, it includes a new eight-bedroom extension at the back, helping to create an enclosed courtyard for residents.

It will feature 37 bedrooms, each equipped with full-size wetrooms, two large lounges, a salon, a large dining room, and an on-site laundry service.

Black Swan Care Group started life as a consultancy firm for the care sector, launching in 1991 before buying its first home in 1994.

It has 20 other homes across the East of England – three rated ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, 15 rated as ‘good’ and two yet to be inspected.

It bought The Haven in June of last year.
